Claude – MRI, doctors and more doctors

With quite a bit of exercise in between though.
Sorry not having posted last week, but I really had the feeling all I did was see different doctors!
I got the report of the MRI, which says basically that my meniscus has a tear, that there is something wrong with a flap underneath it, the whole thing resulting in a cyst of 2cm by 5cm, full of synovial liquid, which is the cause of my not being able to extend my leg.
Then the sports doctor I’ve been seeing said that I would, eventually, have to go through surgery, but she advises to postpone it as much as possible as it seems there may be unwelcomed consequences with bones and such after surgery. So she advised for the cyst to be drained and for an injection of corticoids. I made an appointment for that, this coming Friday.
I must tell you that I am not looking forward to this, as I am extremely fearful of physical pain 😉
I also had an appointment with my cholesterol doctor, so did some blood tests, which showed that my cholesterol count was back to normal. That was already quite satisfactory, but he also decided to stop my blood pressure medication for a while and see what happens. It’s been two weeks and although we don’t know if it’ll keep low, at the moment, it’s really OK. So I’m enjoying the no-pills moment while it lasts.

Claude–It looks like you had a very good couple of weeks with varied kinds of exercise. I hope the knee procedure goes well on Friday. Many people report good pain relief with cortisone shots and getting the cyst drained should help a lot.

Your brave woman… even if it is only a drainage, who would go into it willingly? 5 cm seems awefully big for behind the knee. That’s bound to make things feel a bit better, don’t you think? I am amazed at the amount of exercise you manage under these conditions. Good for you, you are a warrier.

Well, your record looks great to me! That’s more than I manage WITHOUT a knee problem! Good that you’re getting some more info from surgeons. At any rate, always best to go into a procedure feeling that you have made a good decision based on all possible information!
    🙂

It is extremely impressive that you have managed to lower your cholesterol and blood pressure to the point that no medications are needed. Wow! It must help you to remain motivated to exercise — especially with the pain in your knee. Good luck with the second opinions.
