Sara – conspicuous by my absence – sorry…

Whoa.  I had no idea it had been THREE weeks since my last post.  Things have been busy.  The time is a sort of blur and I am feeling very tired the last few days.

The weekend of this first week was opera weekend – Claude and I both saw Boris Godunov, the Met production from New York City simulcast in movie theatres both here in State College and in Paris!  It was pretty cool.  I had a fairly iffy week of exercise, but did finish the biggest part of the digging in my back garden and planted the remaining plants that had been waiting in pots.

I have been managing to stick to my arms/legs/abs-core routine and my Sundays off.  At least, I stick to the rotation.  I haven’t always had the energy for ST…as you will see.

Sun. 10-24 – 6545 steps (rest day but I did 50′ gardening)

This week I decided to attempt to do 4 Leslie or outdoors miles per day.  I may have overdone it a bit…
Oct. 25-31, 2010

This week I got in my strength training every day except Saturday.  After doing a funeral that morning, I just could not face the Pilates routine…
Nov. 1-7, 2010

Sun. 11-7 – 5947 steps, no cardio, rest day

Well, maybe I should cut myself some slack.  I like the 4 mile routine for the most part, and I like the alternating strength training focus.  But I find I’m quite tired now.

It’s true that work has been continuous – if it’s not planning or rehearsal or mass, it’s a funeral.  One this AM, one the previous Saturday and this week we have the parish mission every night.  All goes well and that’s nice, and rewarding.  But tiring.

I will try to get back on my weekly reporting schedule.  Tomorrow should be a better day – I plan to do no “work” work but do some tasks at home that I’ve been putting off.

AND maybe get in my lower-body ST!

Now to check in on your posts and find out what is happening!   🙂   Sara

Sarah–Wow! 4 Leslie miles–that’s a good workout. In spite of your being busy, you’ve managed to stay disciplined about the strength training. Do you feel any difference in your body?

I do feel a difference. For one thing, my tiredness yesterday disappeared by mid-afternoon – in the past, I would have been a slug all day!
It’s also much more fun to do the ST when you feel yourself getting stronger. Certain leg exercises and that bloody sideways plank in the Pilates tape were VERY hard for me when I began this. It was pitiful. Now I am almost enjoying them!
It’s been worth it to push myself to do this – absolutely! I think the winter will be much less enervating than usual… 🙂

  3. I’ve been quite conspicuous by my absence too. I think that SparkPeople takes too much of my time, plus the doctors’ appointments, MRIs and other stupid stuff.
Absent yes, but far from inactive 😉
    Wow! Really worthwhile weeks. Congratulations!
@Lynn, I feel that the strength training is doing a lot for me too.
