Sandy – 24th July

It has been a pretty depressing week or so and my new resolutions got lost along the way.

The good part is that my sister and her husband came to stay for a few days, but, of course, it was impossible for me to think about dieting.

The knee is still playing up and I have been forced to take it easy. (Appointment with specialist on 29th.) I also have a urine infection which is highly inconvenient to put it mildly.

All in all I feel rather ‘down’ healthwise and am not sticking to the diet even now that our visitors have gone home.

If only I could feel free to move things would look a bit brighter. It doesn’t even seem worth putting on the pedometer at present as I can’t walk for very long.

I’m resigned to the fact that I’m going to have to start slowly again and build up gradually when I do get going.

Reading about all your efforts and successes will spur me on to be a part of it again. Meanwhile, I’m just going to have to ‘sit it out’ so there’s no point in moping. I’m doing sudoku online for ‘braintraining’ and reading more.

Good luck to everyone. Keep smiling!

It is hard to take things easy, isn’t it? If your body is ill then it really is telling you to be kind to yourself. I find gentleness a hard thing to practice when it comes to exercise, since I was raised in a rather gunho manner. Do take care and get well soon.

You will get back to more activity, Sandy, I am sure. Fighting an infection plus a bum knee would sap anyone’s motivation. Enjoy your reading and when it is time again, you will know. We will be with you in spirit! Take care, Sara
By the way I love your beautiful cat…

Thank you both for your support.
Lilalia, I know what you mean: ‘gentle’ exercise doesn’t feel as though it’s enough does it?
Sara, the cat photo I use instead of mine is of Pepper but there are five other felines in our family. Of course, they are all beautiful.

  4. Sandy, do be kind to yourself. No one can take up an exercise programme with a problematic knee. And when you do, you’ll have to remember again to be kind to yourself 😉
As for the urine infection, have you seen a doctor? Urine infections are pure hell, as far as I remember.
Drink a lot of fluid. It’s important, even if one feels the last thing she would want to do would be to go to the toilet! And take care.

Wow, SIX cats! Awesome! I AM a cat lover, but have not had a kitty since my dear Francis passed away in Miami back in the 80s…I have been too peripatetic…Sara

You’re right. It’s difficult to have a cat if you’re not at home most of the time. They do like company and if you have to rely on neighbours to feed them twice a day i don’t think it’s very satisfactory.

Do what you must, Sandy! We are here for you!!! You’ll know when you’re ready to start again!
